Anthony Salvagno

Anthony Salvagno, of Greenwood Lake, NY (formerly of Long Island), passed away on August 6, 2015 at St. Anthony Community Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.  He was 65 years old.

Born on May 17, 1950, he was the son of the late Anthony Salvagno and Frances Carroll.

He was married to Irene (Dulgerian) Salvagno.

As a veteran of the US Army, Tony served his country proudly and honorably.  Tony was a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War.  He ran many seach and rescue missions, saving and helping as many as he could.  Tony was awarded an Air Medal and two Bronze Star Medals for his meritorious service. 

He was a longtime employee of PDJ Components.  Tony took great pride in his work.  He considered the Ketchum family as an extended part of his.

Tony enjoyed visiting the local wineries and appreciated the music of Billy Joel, The Eagles and E’lissa Jones.  He provided much love and laughter to his family and friends.  He leaves them with many happy, funny memories.  Tony will be truly missed by all. 

He is survived by his wife, Irene, of Greenwood Lake; his children:  Carly Salvagno and her fiancé Marshall Gibson of Nashua, NH, Tiffany Di Mattina and her husband Joseph, Jr. of Greenwood Lake, Thomas Jones and his love Nicole Rushing of New Windsor; his grandchildren:  Nico, Dean and Geno Di Mattina;  his goddaughters, Nancy Donahue of Warwick and Lisa Yodice of Slate Hill;  brothers, Thomas Lucas and his wife Maureen of Middletown and Jack Lucas of Brooklyn; and many nieces and nephews. 

Visiting hours will be on Thursday, August 13th, from 10:30 am – 11:30 am at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 am.  Private cremation.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Petr Bezdicek, Michelle Gregorio, and the nurse and staff of St. Anthony Community Hospital for the above and beyond care and compassion shown to Tony during his final days.
