To Mike's Family: Although we moved apart I always considered him a friend. Thinking back to when Mike came on the job as a proby. He was always enthusiastic and interested in learning. We fought many fires together and he always had my back. I only hope he felt the same way about me. One "Fire Story" that comes to mind was a first floor fire in an old law tenement . I had the nozzle , Mike backed me up. We put out the fire but something was wrong. Mike whispered in my ear. "Brian your foot is on fire". (We laughed about that several times since). We could see fire reflecting in the windows of the building behind us. Realizing we had fire below us in the cellar. I passed him the nozzle. Which anyone can tell you. I didn't give up to anyone. Him and Kevin K. took off out the door and down the cellar stairs and put out the fire. We put fire out on 2 floors and it seemed so effortless and smooth. As it was with most of the things we did together. Mike was always fun to be with and we always had a good time together. I only hope I helped him learn as much as he taught me. I was very proud of him after he retired. When him and his wife Ellen started a Title Company Business. How great was that. Then teaching Fire Safety. Both some of his favorites Teaching and Fire Service. My only regret is not getting back closer to you over the years. I watched you on face book and knew something was wrong but didn't know what you were going through. Even when I asked you blew it off like nothing was up. Always protecting us and avoiding the attention. Thank you Mike for the memories and the good times. I'm sure you'll continue to watch over your wonderful family and continue protecting them. God Bless You. Good Job!
