Kenneth P. Kovatch, Jr.

Kenneth P. Kovatch, Jr., passed away on October 29, 2020 at home after a long illness which he battled bravely. He was 53 years old.
Born on January 5, 1967 in Nyack, NY, and raised in Warwick, NY, he was the son of Edith (Niedworok) and the late Kenneth P. Kovatch, Sr. who predeceased him in 2017.
Kenny worked as a custodial worker for Warwick Valley School District for many years.
Kenny was a kind, sincere, and loving person; he loved his family, his friends and long walks with his best dog, Angel. He loved music and concerts, and collecting memorabilia, especially from Kiss. He loved Disney World, fairs, and carnivals. He was a huge Jets fan. When the Jets weren’t playing, Kenny watched the news. He loved vodka and he always had the biggest Christmas tree. His biggest dislikes were cleaning, cellphones and computers.
A family statement reads: “Kenny was the best son a mother could have. He will be dearly missed by his family and the many friends he had. We will miss the funny stories he told, and will have fond memories of the music he loved and the many concerts attended. The family would like to thank the Mt. Hope Police Department who helped them through a very difficult time and Tom Yonskie, the dog control officer, for all his kindness.”
Kenny is survived by his loving mother, Edith of Warwick; sister, Karen Vermillion and her husband Michael of Warwick; brother, Kevin Kovatch of Daytona Beach, FL; nieces and nephews: David Schermerhorn and his longtime partner Ashleigh of Albany, NY; Rachael Schermerhorn of Florida, NY; two great-nieces (Rachael’s daughters) Madison and Charlotte; aunts Janie Dios and her husband Robert of Pond Eddy, NY and Joan Brothers and her husband Ray of Calabash, NC; and several cousins.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, November 4th at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial following in Warwick Cemetery.
