Joseph P. Dondiego Jr.

Joseph P. Dondiego Jr. of Warwick, NY (formerly of Closter, NJ) passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, NY on April 10, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was 80 years old.

 

Born April 8, 1944 in Dumont, NJ, he was the son of Joseph and Dorothy M. (Simmerok) Dondiego.

 

Joseph proudly served his country as a paratrooper with the Army’s 101st Airborne Division from 1965 to 1967 at Fort Campbell, KY.

 

After earning a bachelor’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Joe worked for over 50 years as a real estate appraiser most recently with Cushman & Wakefield in New York, NY and in Stamford, CT.  He was still working part time at the time of his death.

 

Joe played soccer in his college days and later played rugby with the Westchester Rugby Club in the 1970s.  Staying active was important to him, even recently playing bocce with his Warwick Grove buddies.  He also enjoyed travelling, especially to the Tuscany region of Italy.

 

Joe loved his family and never missed his daughters’ and granddaughters’ activities which included ballet recitals, horse shows and soccer games.  Joe lived a life full of love, laughter and adventure. 

 

Joseph leaves behind to grieve his beloved wife of 58 years, Dale Ann (nee Kronmuller); daughters Joelle Dondiego Newsome and her husband Mark Newsome of Middletown, NY and Dara Dondiego of Warwick, NY; granddaughters Taylor Dale Newsome and her fiancé Carlo and Sydney Kate Newsome and her partner Ethan; brother Robert E. Dondiego and his wife Denise of River Edge, NJ.  He also leaves behind many nieces,  nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by his father in 1992 and is mother in 2006.

 

Private arrangements were made.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Hospitals for Children or an animal shelter of your choice.
