Richard A. Figat

Richard A. Figat of Warwick, NY passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on May 25, 2019 at Schervier Pavilion. He was 81 years old.

 

Born in Jersey City, NJ on May 2, 1938, son of Anthony and Jean (Prezewodek) Figat.

 

Prior to his retirement, Richard worked as a Chemist-Staff Engineer for IBM in Yorktown Heights, NY.

 

Over the years, Richard was active in the community. He was a member of the Collabergh Masonic Lodge #859, Croton, NY since 1979, in 1985 and 1990 he served as Master and held various other offices through the years.  In Yorktown, he served as EMT for more than 10 years on the Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps.  After retiring, Rich took up woodworking and enjoyed making furniture.  He was a parishioner at St. Stephen RC Church, Warwick.

 

Rich is survived by his wife, Marilyn (nee Carroll) Lynch; children: Michael and wife Linda, Terrijean Saladino and her husband Robert Simpson, Kathleen and her husband Jerry Edgar; siblings: Eugene and wife Kathy, Thomas, Helen, and Christine and her husband Greg Roberts; six grandchildren: Abby and her husband Moshe Stern, Hannah and her husband Binyamin Goldstein, Michelle Saladino, Joseph Saladino, Caitlyn Edgar, and Ryan Edgar; and one great grandson, Azariah Goldstein.

 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, NY. There will be a funeral mass on Friday, May 31 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen RC Church 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick.

 

Memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s name to the Warwick Valley Humane Society,P.O. Box 61, Warwick, NY 10990 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
