
George F. Mc Elroy, Jr., of Warwick, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2016 at Villa Marie Claire Hospice, Saddle River, NJ. He was 97 years old.
Born on February 23, 1919 in Butler, New Jersey, he was the son of the late George F. Mc Elroy, Sr. and Blanche Rehill Mc Elroy.
He was married to the late Elizabeth D’Amario.
George served with the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the VFW Post 4662 in Warwick and American Legion Post 214 in Warwick.
He was retired as a Toll Collector with the New Jersey Parkway Authority. A member of St. Stephen RC Church for 30 years, he was also a member of the Upper Greenwood Lake Seniors.
George is survived by his daughter, Karen Orthmann and her husband Paul of Warwick; a daughter-in-law, JoAnn Mc Elroy of Hillsdale, NJ; his grandchildren: Lee Orthmann and his wife Kristin of Warwick, Allyson Smith and her husband Ryan of Hillsdale, NJ, and Glenn Mc Elroy of New York City; and his three great-grandchildren: Noel, Carly and Connor. He was predeceased by his son, James Mc Elroy and a sister, Dorothy Kluft.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 7th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Funeral Mass will be at 11:0 am on Thursday, September 8th, at St. Stephen RC Church, followed by interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Butler, NJ.
