Christina Rose Ginley

Christina Rose Ginley, of Warwick, passed away on March 14, 2013 in Virginia.  She was 18 years old.

Born on January 29, 1995 in Suffern, NY, she was the daughter of Joseph J. and Barbara (Falciglia) Ginley.

Christina was a senior at Warwick Valley High School where she was a premier soccer player, a member of the Quickstrike FC, and received the student Scholar Athletic Award and the Superintendent’s Scholar Athletic Award.  .  A member of the National Honor Society, she was on every high honor roll list, and she was a member of the Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society.

A leader in the school community, Christina raised money for wounded warriors, organized and ran a coin drop for the Warwick Valley Humane Society, organized a fundraiser for Quickstrike FC to go to a college showcase tournament in Disney, was captain of Warwick in the Beach Soccer Tournament in Wildwood, NJ, coached a 7-8 year old boys soccer team for Warwick Soccer Club, organized a used eye glass collection for the Warwick Lions Club donating over 50 pairs of eyeglasses that were distributed to the less fortunate in areas of Africa, helped get blood donors for the New York Blood Center by making flyers, advertising and having people sign up for the drive, participated in the Midnight Run with St. Stephen’s Church, bringing food and clothes to the less fortunate in NYC, tutored students in math, and filled baby bottles with change for pro-life organization.

She is survived by her parents, Joseph and Barbara Ginley of Warwick; two brothers, Joseph V. Ginley and Paul M. Ginley;  her paternal grandparents, Joseph W. and Elizabeth Ginley of Warwick;  her uncles:  Robert Ginley and his wife Susan of Warwick, Patrick Ginley and his wife Cathy of Warwick, Timothy Ginley and his wife Denise of Warwick, and Philip Falciglia of Brooklyn; her aunts, April Ginley of Warwick (wife of the late Lt. John Ginley), Sandy Patterson and her husband Dennis of Brooklyn, Joann Badolato and her husband Louis of Old Bridge, and Annette Piscitello and her husband Nick of Monroe;  and many cousins.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 18th and Tuesday, March 19th, from 3-5 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday at St. Stephens RC Church, followed by private cremation.  

Memorial donations may be sent to Lt. John F. Ginley Memorial Scholarship Fund, 14 Village Cove, Warwick, NY 10990.
